Spring Break, Spring Begins
It's been a busy spring break at Songyard Farms! Many local schools are closed this week, and we have had some wonderful help on the farm from high school volunteers. We started building our new Bunny Bodega, a safe and secure 10x20 run full of enrichment activities for our bunny colony when they are not working hard at eating weeds!
We also had help spring cleaning the stables while new fencing was installed for the horses track, creating a playground enrichment area for the horses. Trails were cleaned up and the goats, chickens and pigs houses got started with some spring cleaning!
We still have so many spring projects and would love any help our farm friends can offer. Check out events page for volunteer hours if you'd like to spend some time with our animals or get a little spring physical activity outdoors!
While tidying the trails today, we saw many signs of spring, including an adorable salamander and some Bloodroot flowers! Bloodroot is a lovely native flower that indicates that area of the woods is quite healthy. It's so fun learning what makes this little flower so unique and special! After enjoying the sunshine today, our animals are all tucked in for the night, safe from the storms and rapidly dropping temperatures. We hope you all stay safe and enjoy the lightening and rain! To those who lemt a hand this week, we are so very grateful!
